The Golden Journal #13: Take a break

Take a Break

You’ve heard the saying: “All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy.” Well, in today’s hyper-connected, fast-paced world, this age-old wisdom rings truer than ever.

Think about it: Centuries ago, traveling 100 kilometers took days. Today? A quick hour-long drive or train ride. Technology has supercharged how we work, connect, and compete—whether with the business down the street or halfway across the globe. Speed is essential. Miss a beat, and opportunities slip away.

But here’s the catch: Relentless productivity comes at a cost.

Yes, hustle hard. But don’t forget to breathe. When was the last time you stepped back to reflect, recharge, or simply… do nothing?

Rest isn’t laziness—it’s strategy. Breaks spark creativity, sharpen focus, and fuel resilience. You’ll return to work energized, ready to outthink (not just outwork) the competition.

The world won’t slow down. But you can choose to pause. Your mind, body, and future self will thank you.

Book that vacation. Take that nap. Your next breakthrough might just come after a good night’s sleep.

Stay productive, but stay human.

After finishing, He turns to Simon and says, “Put out into deep water, and let down the nets for a catch.” Simon, a seasoned fisherman, replies with understandable...

Salary vs Time There’s something about the concept of a salary that continues to fascinate and reveal itself to me over time. It’s as if it’s designed to hide its true nature from us when we first receive it, only slowly showing its reality as our lives change. I’ve often found myself looking at someone’s income with questions. For some, I wonder, "How do you make this work for a family?" when the number seems too small. For others—those I consider privileged top earners—who claim it's still...

The Euphoria of Interbank Games Ever had a week start so well it feels surreal? Mine began with an unexpected adrenaline rush: I witnessed the electrifying finals of the Interbank Games’ tug-of-war championship. And wow it’s been years since I felt that kind of raw competitive energy. Picture this: Teams of bankers, sleeves rolled up, digging their heels into the mud. The crowd roaring, ropes straining, and that heart-pounding moment when momentum swings in a split second. It wasn’t just a...
