The Golden Journal #15: The Euphoria of Interbank Games

The Euphoria of Interbank Games

Ever had a week start so well it feels surreal? Mine began with an unexpected adrenaline rush: I witnessed the electrifying finals of the Interbank Games’ tug-of-war championship. And wow it’s been years since I felt that kind of raw competitive energy.

Picture this: Teams of bankers, sleeves rolled up, digging their heels into the mud. The crowd roaring, ropes straining, and that heart-pounding moment when momentum swings in a split second. It wasn’t just a game—it was pure, unfiltered euphoria.

But beyond the thrill, here’s what stayed with me:

Sport isn’t just play—it’s professional magic. Beyond trophies, these games proved how vital it is for us in finance to:

Unplug from screens through physical activity,

Connect authentically (no business cards needed!),

Recharge in a lively, pressure-free environment.

see me at the next InterInterbanks I will be participating.

enjoy your week

I’ve often found myself looking at someone’s income with questions. For some, I wonder, "How do you make this work for a family?" when the number seems too small. For others—those I consider privileged top earners—who claim it's still...

lessons from Car Boss Car Wash Over the weekend, I visited my colleague’s new car wash in Bindura—a venture that had just passed its first month of operation. What surprised me most were the fascinating business dynamics at play, along with these key lessons: Lesson 1: Don’t Fear Competition As I walked 400–500m from the bus stop to her car wash, I noticed two busy car washes along the way. Hers was the third. Later, when l boarded the bus back home, I spotted another one directly opposite...
